The Jihad Bin Nafs is a group which was founded four year ago in Aberdeen the Western part of Freetown in order to encourage younger sisters to follow the Islamic doctrines and wear the Hijab which is a covering ordained by the almighty Allah the creator of the universe. The group which comprises of young teens usually embarks on Seminars, Camping, doing provincial tours in order to target their younger folks. In her opening remarks the chairperson Haja Alima Abdulai congratulate the Jihad Bin Nafs for their courage to encourage other young folks in to uphold the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW) despite all odds as the Aberdeen community is full of all kind of entertainment spots that usually attract the young girls to go astray. The Chairperson extends thanks to the founders of the group Haja Moshopeh Thomas and Haja Laila Kassim who in her words have tried to inspire the girls to inculcate the principles of Islam. Haja Alima Abdulai urges parents to encourage their children to join the Jihad Bin Nafs to help bring sanity to the Aberdeen community and the nation as a whole as the need to help the younger folks is very necessary to reduce the rate of teenage pregnancy, prostitution as the community is full of entertainment. She encourage the group not to look down on themselves as they are on the right track the path of truth. In his address before launching the organization Brother Mohamed Wusha-Conteh of the Voice of Islam Radio Station Call on the audience to support the Jihad Bin Nafs group whose primary aim is to uphold the doctrine of Islam and instill the fear of Allah on their younger folks, he also called on Government to support the Islamic Women groups that are embarking on grooming the younger folks so that the homes, communities and nation will be develop and be at peace. Brother Mohamed Wusha- Conteh congratulates the Jihad Bin Nafs for their strides in achieving successful four years of existence and prays that the organization will move from strength to strength. He encourages members not to relent in their effort to pass the message of Allah though they will meet with the toughest resistance from their colleagues In her remarks Haja Rakiatu Tejan describe the motto which is “Taqwa” as not merely a feeling or an emotion but an act of doing things which become preparations and provisions for the Hereafter as Allah observes both our inner motives and our actions. She describe their roles as women in Islam as one which should be guided by Taqwa- the fear of Allah, in everything they do starting from their homes, communities, work place and the country as it should be epitomize by the fear of God. Haja Rakiatu Tejan stressed the important of the Fear of God by quoting from proverbs in the old testament which reads The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and the Holy Qur’an in sura baqara verse 2 which reads “ This is the book in it is guidance, sure without doubt , to those who fear God. She calls on all to endeavor to obtain the knowledge from the Holy Qur’an which guides one to fear God. The ceremony was climaxed with a play depicting the work of the Jihad Bin Nafs, a short talk was given by the adviser of the group Haja Laila Kassim and representative from Bo Southern Sierra Leone. |
