928 PILGRIMS DEPARTED FOR HAJJ IN MECCA

Nine Hundred and Twenty Eight (928) pilgrims from Sierra Leone had departed for this year?s hajj 2013 in Mecca Saudi Arabia. The journey started on the 2nd October 2013; with the arrival of an advance team of four man delegation who arrived at the King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah led by Alhaji Mohamed S. Kargbo who is the Deputy Chairman for this year's Hajj and Special Assistant to His Excellency the President on Political Affairs.

I wish to highlight this very important issue in Islam which is either neglected or little effort is made to fulfill the conditions of prayers in Islam. . In a survey just conducted I can authoritatively say that over forty percent of Mosques in the Western area of Freetown are not turning towards the Qibla whilst praying and a good number of Muslim worshippers do not meet the conditions of Salat which includes facing the direction of the Ka?aba for Prayers.

Personally, I never thought of myself as anything but a Muslim practicing purely what the Qur?an says and the hadith of the holy prophet Mohammed (SAW). Though I definitely realized that I am a Sunni Muslim I was never taught to hate or harbor ill will towards the Shia or any sect. Despite we as Muslims recognizes the various sect in the country like the Ahmaddiyya, Shia, Sufism, Quranist. We really tried to live together with other religious beliefs like Christianity and other faiths.
