The Iranian Cultural Consulate in Sierra Leone has ended their Annual Qu’ranic Competition which attracted over seventy (70) participants nationwide. The Qu’ranic competition was divided into three categories Memorization, Recitation and Translation of the Holy Quran in Krio. The Ceremony was held at a jam-packed hall on Saturday 27th July, 2013 which coincides with the 18th Ramadan 1434. In his opening remarks the Iranian Cultural Consulate Mohamed Reza Ghezla Soufla catalogued the importance of the Holy Quran which was revealed to the Holy Prophet Mohammad (SAW), he reiterated the importance of reading the Holy Quran in the Month of Ramadhan. Mohamed Reza Ghezla Soufla encouraged Muslims to always recite the Holy Quran and more so try to ponder on its meanings as this will not only help the person but will contribute to national development in the country. He expressed his gratitude for the huge cooperation of the people as every year the number of participants keep growing. The Memorization of the Holy Quran was divided into eight (8) categories. The full Quran (30 Juzu), Half (15 Juzu), One Third (10 juzu), 5 Juzu, 4 Juzu, 3 Juzu, 2 Juzu and 1 Juzu. Several Prizes was distributed ranging from Cash, Holy Quran and Islamic Literatures. The program was chaired by Alpha Rashid Jalloh and Judges were Lt. Col. Mohamed Billal Conteh Armed Forces Chief Imam, Sheikh Ibrahim K. Kamara, Sheikh Alimamy Sesay and Alhaji Abul Rahman Hamid Chief Imam Jamieu Salam. |
