Rodney Strasser makes Reggina debut

By Mohamed Fajah Barrie 28th August 2013

Italy based Sierra Leonean midfielder Rodney Strasser has made his first appearance for his new Italian Serie B club Reggina on Sunday.

The 23-year old came in as substitute 14 minutes after the break as they were held to a goalless draw at home to Bari in the opening weekend of the Italian season.

Strasser’s debut came four days after he joined Reggina on a season long loan from Seria A club Genoa who bought him from AC Milan a month ago.

The Sierra Leonean international was also sent on loan twice before to Serie A teams Lecce and Parma when he was owned by AC Milan.

He struggled to establish himself at AC Milan, Lecce and Parma but is ready to fight for a first team place at Reggina.

Another Sierra Leonean player who had previously played for both Reggina and Genoa is the footballing legend Mohamed Kallon.

Meanwhile, in another separate development Julius Gibrilla Woobay is currently in Austria on a pre-season tour with his new club Al-Shabbab of the Gulf state of United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The 29-year old Sierra Leonean international is also on a season long loan from Azerbaijan top flight league club Neftchi Baku PFK.
