The Chairman of Mercury International (SL) Limited Charity Foundation Mr. Samir Hassanyeh on Thursday 10th October 2013 presented a cheque of Seventy Four Million Three Hundred and Ninety- Five Thousand Leone (Le 74, 495,000m) to the Vice President of the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) ahead of the association`s forthcoming 2012/13 Annual National Sports Award ceremony on December 6 2013, at the Miatta Conference Hall Brookfields in Freetown.
The presentation according to the Secretary General of SWASAL, Frank Magnus Cole is the biggest ever in the history since the marriage between the company and SWASAL started in 2010.
Handing over the cheque Mr. Hassanyeh said the presentation was part of meeting his company’s cooperate social responsibility and fulfilling Mercury International’s commitment to SWASAL.
The Chairman noted his company has provided funding for SWASAL previous activities, adding that Mercury International will continue the good marriage with SWASAL.
In his statement, the SWASAL Vice President Abu Bakarr Kanu thanked the Chairman and the rest of the Board Members; Management and Staff of Mercury International (SL) Limited for their remarkable support to the association over the years.
He said latest gesture, from all directions, shows clearly the company has lots of confidence in his executive, therefore promised they would do their utmost best to maintain that confidence and further promised the association will used the money for it purpose,” Abu Bakarr Kanu stressed.
He admonished the company not to relent in its enviable cooperate social responsibility.
