By Martin Wusha Conteh 14th November 2013

Four teams Wilberforce veteran FC, East End veteran FC, Brookfields veteran and Western veteran will be participating in the 1st edition of Ahmed Sasso Veterans Unite football competition scheduled for 4-5 January 2013 at the National stadium in Freetown.

According to the former Sierra Fisheries and East End Lions player the three-day veteran gala will bring together former players as way of fostering the good relationship among the formers. When asked about the rationale behind organizing such tournament, he replied; “We want to create a friendly atmosphere among the players and also give opportunity to veteran players to show case their talents”, he added. “These guys have contributed immensely in developing the country`s football, so organizing such a tournament will inspire young players to learn from them.

Sasso further maintained that trophies, medals and cash prizes will be giving to all participating clubs including the best player awards, best goal keeper, best defender and the highest goal scorer as a way of motivating them. He called on football fans to storm the venue in thousands to support and cheer up these old players.

Speaking to this press ahead of the three-day gala, former Leone Stars captain, Mohamed Kallon applauded Sasso for organizing such gala. “The initiative is a welcoming one and we`re looking forward to it. He added that the gala will give opportunity to young players to once again seeing or know these guys that have given their best for the country and their respective clubs.
