Reliable information reaching Awoko Sports has revealed that the Minister of Sports is bent on destroying some Sports Journalists who are not dancing to his tune,
The first journalist who suffered in the hands of the Minister was Sahr Morris Jr of Concord Times.
Sahr Morris has received accreditation from the International body to attend the 49th IAAF Congress in Moscow slated for 10-19 this August. On hearing the news, the Minister of Sports, Paul Kamara was so angry, that he instructed the Permanent Secretary in his Ministry, Y.A Lahai to write the DirectorGeneral and Ambassador at Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to instruct the Russian Embassy in Guinea not to issue Visa to Sahr Morris Jr.
When Sahr Morris Jr arrived in Guinea for the visa, he was informed that the Minister of Sports Paul Kamara had instructed the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry to inform them through the foreign affairs ministry not to give him the visa.
According to Sahr Morris, he was shocked to receive such news from the Minister who was supposed to be the father of sports in the country to send such message which Sahr Morris said is unfortunate.
However the consul said that he has no right to refuse him the visa, unless he has received instructions from his own country. It was on this ground that the visa was issued to Sahr Morris.
The information also stated that about 12 other Journalists are in the bad books of the Minister because they refused to dance to his tune. It has been reported that the minister had said so long he is in charge of sports, he will use his power to make sure that some of these sports Journalists do not receive any support or assistance from his ministry.The letter was written on 1st August 2013 with the caption.
Request for Withdrawal of Visa.
The letter reads;
I have the honor to refer to the above subject and my memorandum of reference dated 25th July 2013, and to inform you that the Minister of Sports has directed that Sahr Morris jr holder of passport No.E0072562 is not eligible to participate in the 49th IAAF Congress, which will convene in Moscow from 10-19th August 2013.
In this circumstance, I write to request that the name of Sahr Morris Jr is deleted from the list of applicants for the issuance of the Russian Visa.
