Mighty Blackpool held East End Lions To Goalless Draw

By Martin Wusha Conteh 8th October 2013

Mighty Blackpool and East End Lions played out a 0-0 draw at the National Stadium on Sunday in the on-going controversial Premier League. The match failed to live up to its pre-match expectations.

The fixture marked the first for Abu Sankoh aka “Short Abu” after his side failed to honor their last four fixtures away from home.

Both coaches could gain the mental upper hand, although the draw puts the “Tis Tas” boys a point ahead of their bitter rivals in the Premier League. Omega Thoronka aka “Amanki” tried to open a tight Blackpool defence in a lacklustre first half but twice wasted good opportunities with weak efforts straight at Abdulai “Kanibeh” Bah. Foday “Pizaro” Samura had EE Lions's best effort when he hit the side netting from inside the area in half hour of the match.

The second half seemed to be entertaining as both sides create good opportunities. Davis Kamara aka “Rooney” came close to put his side ahead but his twenty yards shot was saved by Unisa “Pepe” Koroma.

Amanki could have sealed victory for his side but his volley went wide. Mighty Blackpool are in 5th position with fifteen (15) points while their rivals East End Lions sitting behind in 6th position with 15 points.

However, defending champions Diamond Stars are edging closer to clinch their second consecutive championship trophy if only they could avoid defeat against FC Kallon and RSLAF in their two remaining fixtures away from home.

Diamond Stars are comfortable lying at the top with twenty six points (26), five points clear adrift second placed RSLAF with a better goals difference.
