President Koroma’s Trophy… Battle Resume Tommorrow In Makeni

Defending champions, Wusum Stars will lock horns with their rivals, Area Best in the opening match of the 4th edition of the Ernest Bai Koroma football championship on Saturday 12th October 2013 at the Wusum ground.

The tourney is sponsored by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Honorable Chernor “Chericoco” Bah.

Four female giants clubs, Suba United, Rising Queens, Malimba Queens and Mamoud FC and eight clubs including, Marampa Stars, Suba FC, Albaika and Area Best and are set to battle for the prestigious trophy.

Past Tuesday`s draw introduced new competitors like Po-Military, Makeni City FC and Kolifa Stars who are preparing for their first glance and challenges confronting them.

Former premier league sides, Wusum Stars and Area Best are the main contenders heading for the prestigious trophy as they are placed in the group of death alongside Marampa Stars, Suba FC and Albaika. Area Best have failed to reach the finals in the last three editions.

Chairman of the Bombali District Football Association, Mr. Brima Jalloh aka “BJ” who is also the Chief Organizer assured all that the tournament will be a memorable event compared to previous editions.

“We have worked out modalities that would lead to a successful tournment, we introduce new innovations every year as we endeavour to give out the best to football fans" He emphasized. He further said they are expecting a scintillating performances from the clubs as he groups are tough and only the best team is expected to win.

Mr. Brima Jalloh described Hon. Chernoh Bah as a real patriot who have young people at heart. To many, he is a god father of Makeni football having supported the tournamnet for three years. His desire is to see future stars and professionals emanating from the district and we therefore doff our hat to him,” he further said.
