Camp Canada Athletic Club is bracing ahead of their 2nd edition of Inter-clubs’ athletics competition scheduled for the 9th-10th November 2013 at the Trade Centre ground, Ferry Junction. The club is one of Sierra Leone`s oldest and most successful athletic club as they have produced a lot of athletes that have represented the country in previous international games. The event will bring together Athletics clubs in the country, both in the Western area and other parts of the country. The captain of Camp Canada, Alim Sesay, said the idea behind this initiative is to bring athletes together and to keep them fit for international Competitions. Sesay said: “We are expecting the best across the country, I mean the most talented youngsters”. He further revealed that the “sensational record holder in 110 & 400 meter hurdles; Amara Taylor Kamara, will be making his return ahead of the traditional Boxing Day Sports in December this year…” An athlete, Abdul Rahman Tarawallie expressed hope of retaining his 100 meters title while his rival, Ibrahim Turay aka “Tall Man” who grabbed the 200m last year is also very positive about becoming the country’s fastest man. |
